Best Places to Visit in Fall to Fulfill Your Haunted Dreams

There are so many places to visit in the fall. If you are into ghosts, true crime, and a general lover of the season, these places should be added to your bucket list! Here are 4 East Coast locations to visit with a bonus visit in some states.

4. Savannah, Georgia

Savannah is full of paranormal activity. We're talking pirate ghosts, soldiers, slaves, and lost souls. Fall time is the best time to indulge in ghost tours here. There are many bars and restaurants that have a history of ghost sitings as well. Such as the Pirates' House restaurant, Olde Pink House, and Moon River Brewing Company. You should also make time to visit the graveface museum which is devoted to cults and serial killers. Including the possessions of John Wayne Gacy and cult leader Jim Jones.

3. Sleepy Hollow, New York

This famous headless horseman-based town has a lot to offer during the Halloween season. The town has an amazing display of over 7,000 illuminated pumpkins to see. Along with haunted hay rides and cemetery tours (including visiting the grave of famous writer Washington Irvine creator of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow). You can even cross the headless horseman bridge and see the headless horseman himself (in statue form).

The quaint neighboring town of Tarrytown also has some beautiful parks and ocean-side views to die for.

You can also visit the infamous Amityville Horror House about an hour south of Sleepy Hollow. Originally located at 112 Ocean Ave Amityville, New York. The home has since been renovated after the murders and is occupied by residents. So if you do visit, be respectful of the owners.

2. Salem, Massachusetts

The lore of the mystical Salem, Massachusetts. With the unforgettable history of the Salem Witch Trials, multiple museums and cemeteries, and filming locations for the movie we must watch every Halloween Hocus Pocus. You will pretty much have a full itinerary of things to do while visiting here. Upon visiting, you should indulge in the guided tours of Salem's history. Even if you know a lot about Salem already, I guarantee you will learn a whole lot more on tour. There are so many museums to choose from such as the Salem Witch Museum, Halloween Museum, and Museum of Torture. You can find a link to all of these sites here: https://www.salem.org/things-to-do/museums-and-attractions/

If you are a big fan of the movie Hocus Pocus, you absolutely need to take some time to visit the filming locations. Including Allison's house and the town hall where the Sanderson Sisters put a spell on you. Disney

When planning your stay in Salem, MA, keep in mind that fall is peak season. So make sure you book in advance!

About 1.5 hours south, you can stay the night at the Lizzie Borden House in Falls River, MA. What used to be the home of the Borden family is now a bed and breakfast. Although acquitted of axe murdering her father and stepmother, many believed Lizzie was guilty of the crimes. You can schedule a guided tour or partake in some overnight ghost investigating. If you're lucky enough, you may be able to book a night in the same room where Abby Borden was murdered.

1. The Conjuring House

Are you daring enough to stay the night in the famous conjuring house? The same house haunted the Perron family in the 1970's and gained interest during the Ed and Lorraine Warren Investigation. It is said to be one of the most active paranormal locations in the U.S. Book a tour or if you are brave, stay the night and experience GHamping (Ghosts + Camping; seasonal June- October).

I may suggest watching the four-part YouTube series of Sam and Colby's "Surviving a Week at the Conjuring House". The Conjuring movie definitely could scare you away from wanting to visit. However, Sam and Colby had quite an amazing experience that may change your mind.

Please be open-minded and respectful during your stay.

Located at 1677 Round Top Road in Burrillville, Rhode Island. Book your stay now! https://www.theconjuringhouse.com/

While visiting the area, you should drive about 48 minutes south towards Exeter, Rhode Island to visit The Ladd School. Shut down due to allegations of abuse, malpractice, and neglect in the 1990s, this abandoned building is said to be a paranormal territory for tormented souls. An added bonus while in the state of Rhode Island!
